Member Focus Series: Chris Fraser

“I believe to be intentional means to convert your full potential. My mission is to help brands who solve problems, convert their potential online.” These are the words of Chris Fraser, Managing Director at Intentional.

Chris has over 10 years of experience in digital marketing and advertising on both the client and agency sides. In 2014, he was ready to quit marketing after vagabonding, to become a chef. Instead, he became a partner at a specialist advertising agency.

He says that he still has a passion for food & cooking, along with a love of great ads, art, and fashion. Learn more about Chris as he shares a little bit more about himself.

Q: Can you give a brief background about you, your family and your business?

I own Intentional, a digital advertising agency servicing Fashion & Design brands. I’m married to Amanda for 10 years and we have 3 children (Oliver, 6, Mika, 3, and Giselle, 8 months.)

Q: What inspired you to be an entrepreneur?

I started my career in corporate marketing for FMCG brands. I grew frustrated at the politics & inefficiency, especially only working on one single brand. In my last client-side role at Nestle, I got the opportunity to work across multiple brand portfolios, which piqued my interest in applying strategies in multiple variations.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being an entrepreneur?

it’s the ability to correctly set vision and course as required and also enjoy building & leading my team.

Q: What are the biggest challenges you have faced as an entrepreneur?

The challenge of being comfortable with being uncomfortable! Just when I think things are going well, it usually means there's a new valley on its way. My business partner and company founder exited Intentional at the end of 2021 and there has been a massive season of change these last 18 months.

Q: Why did you decide to join EO?

I've found over the years that it's difficult to connect with others around "how's work going?" — unless they are an entrepreneur that true understanding means you can have shallow conversations even with great friends. Being able to connect and go deep with other entrepreneurs to hear their experiences and share mine is something I'm excited about.

Q: Can you share a golden nugget that you learned from your experience or another entrepreneur or mentor in the past?

I love this John Maxwell quote "The greatest gap in the world is the gap between knowing and doing." As someone that loves Strategy & Ideation, it's a good reminder to execute for me.
